Laborde Products is currently seeking a Controller to join our growing team in Covington, LA.  In this role you will direct and integrate the financial functions of Laborde Products with the Operational functions that drive the business while providing leadership and guidance to the accounting and finance team.  
 

In this role, you will:
 

Financial Reporting and Analysis

• Oversee the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Analyze financial performance against budgets and forecasts.
• Identify trends and provide suggestions to leadership for maintaining or improving financial performance.

• Maintain current and accurate financial accounting information for the business units and the company.
• Prepare and review financial statements and KPI metrics with management for the business units and the company.
• Lead the annual budgeting process and coordinate with managers throughout the budgeting process.
• Monitor and analyze budget variances and provides explanations for variances.

Banking and Cash Management

• Manage the cash position of the company in collaboration with the Executive Vice President.
• Coordinate with our banks to support the daily financial operations of the business.

Internal Controls and Compliance

• Establish, implement, and maintain a system of internal controls to ensure the integrity of financial data and safeguard company assets.
• Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), federal, state, and local tax regulations, and other applicable financial regulations.
• Coordinate the efforts of our CPA firm for tax management and preparation.
• Prepare reports and process payments to all taxing authorities.

Risk Management

• Assess and manage financial risks.
• Provide guidance to management on risk-related matters.

Financial Systems and Processes

• Provide support for the managers through the reporting functions of the accounting software or through other reporting mechanisms.
• Manage financial functions within operational departments through collaboration with the management team to improve efficiency and accuracy.
• Oversee inventory control functions including cycle counts by the parts department to ensure accurate inventory controls.
• Refine operational processes to reduce the receivables timing and increase payables timing.

Team Development

• Manage the accounting & finance team on day-to-day activities and provides necessary coordination between departments and activities.
• May perform other duties as required by business needs.

Qualifications we are looking for:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 5+ years of relevant accounting and management experience.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• CPA preferred.
• High energy with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
• Willing to face complex issues head on, work through challenges, and implement changes to build a stronger organization.
• Strong customer service mentality.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Well-developed interpersonal skills.

Work Schedule and Benefits:

• This position is expected to work eight-hour days, Monday - Friday and may include additional work on nights and weekends as needed to fulfill the job duties.
