At Laborde Products, the Production Manager is a hands-on operational leader responsible for all production activities within the manufacturing and rebuild environment. This role demands technician excellence, disciplined execution, and continuous improvement. The Production Manager is highly visible and engaged on the shop floor supporting technicians, removing obstacles, and driving accountability.  Success in this role requires technical credibility, operational urgency, clear communication, and the ability to develop people while delivering safe, high-quality, on-time production aligned with Laborde’s values.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead and manage all production operations, ensuring safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives are met.
  • Directly manage production technicians, ensuring accountability, productivity, training, and safety compliance.
  • Develop and execute production schedules aligned with customer commitments, capacity, and material availability.
  • Actively support technicians on the shop floor to resolve production constraints, technical challenges, and quality issues.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, quality requirements, and Laborde Products policies and procedures.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, waste reduction, throughput, and cost control.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain standardized production processes, SOPs, and work instructions.
  • Monitor production performance metrics, quality trends, and nonconformances; implement corrective actions.
  • Coordinate recurring production challenges with Engineering, Technical Services, Procurement, and Service.
  • Manage production budgets including labor, materials, equipment utilization, and capital planning.
  • Develop departmental KPIs, staffing plans, goals, and budgets in collaboration with Leadership.
  • Maintain clear communication with internal stakeholders and customers regarding production status and delivery.
  • Recruit, train, develop, and cross-train technicians to build a flexible, high-performing team.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on production performance and improvement initiatives.
  • May perform other duties as required by business needs.


Qualifications we are looking for:

Required

  • High school diploma required.
  • Minimum 5 years of leadership experience
  • Proven experience managing technicians in a production or rebuild environment.
  • Experience managing quality programs and vendor relationships.
  • Familiarity with ERP platforms, production planning, or shop management systems.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong teambuilding skills with the ability to build trust and long-term relationships.

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • 5 years of diesel repair or heavy equipment experience.
  • Mechanical or Technical background with strong understanding of propulsion systems and diagnostics.
  • Commercial marine engine or marine power systems experience.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

  • This position operates in both an office and industrial environment.
  • Regularly works around mechanical equipment and may be exposed to high noise levels at times.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crawl and climb ladders.
  • Required to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 50 lbs.


Work Schedule and Benefits:

This position is expected to work eight-hour days, Monday - Friday from 8:00am – 5:00pm
May require working outside of regular business hours based on production demands, customer needs, and deadlines.
