The Engineering Intern supports Laborde Products’ Engineering department by developing and updating 3D models, drawings, and documentation for mechanical components, propulsion engines, fabricated parts, and prototype products. This role helps improve product support documentation, vendor packages, sales materials, and internal engineering files. The intern will contribute directly to ongoing engineering improvement initiatives while gaining real-world design, drafting, and engineering application experience.

In this role, you will:

  • Develop and update 3D and 2D CAD models, assemblies, and drawings for fabricated parts, propulsion engines, and prototype components.
  • Revise and maintain engineering drawings, general arrangement drawings, and vendor packages to reflect design or product changes.
  • Build complete drawing and documentation packages for vendors, Sales, Marketing, and internal engineering use.
  • Assist with prototype test fitting, documentation updates, and parts manual creation.
  • Organize and update engineering files, B.O.M.-aligned models, and supporting documentation.
  • Collaborate with Production, Procurement, Sales/Marketing, and Technical Service on design updates and project needs.
  • Support engineers with basic calculations and other tasks as required.
  • May perform other duties as required by business needs.

Qualifications we are looking for:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture or Computer Aided Drafting and Design.
  • Completion of general program courses and Fluids & Thermodynamics highly preferred.

Skills you will need:

  • Proficiency with 3D modeling, AutoCAD, SolidWorks or similar CAD software preferred.
  • Understanding of drafting practices and mechanical design principles.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to take initiative.
  • Ability to solve problems and work through complex challenges.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Customer service oriented and aligned with Laborde’s P.A.C.T. values.
